HOT TRENDS: The more natural look dominated the runways for quite some time but the finshed, strong look is finally back. Not only are bold brows back in but accentuating the eyes, lips and cheek bones are more important than ever. To get a basic everyday yet put together look follow these simple steps:
FACE: start with your shade foundation that is not too dark yet not too light. Put dots of it lining your cheekbones, forehead and nose and take out either a makeup sponge or a foundation brush. I prefer to use a brush because its softer, feels better on my skin and seems to apply it more evenly. Although if you use a sponge make sure to dab it with water if you don’t feel like its rubbing on your skin quite smoothly enough. Start to spread the makeup outwards on your cheeks, foreheads and most importantly your nose must be blended outwards so that it doesn’t stand out in your face. Add a light layer of powder in order to lock the foundation in and add a softer glow to your face. Again apply the power either with a brush or a puff and spread it outwards. If you are adding concealer then make sure to blend it to ensure it looks natural. This next step is only need if you are going for a soft glow. Take bronzer and with a small brush run it over you cheekbones, nose, chin and a line directly above your forehead but it is absolutely necessary that you make sure it flows with the rest of your skin and it seems as If the sun is simply highlighting those parts of your face.
EYES: For your eyes make sure to line both your top and 1/3 of your bottom line with a black or dark brown( Black tends to bring out your eyes more yet brown can be used when going for a softer look). Start in the corner closet to your nose and follow the shape of your eyelid to the end and continue to drag the pencil slightly outward. Pull your bottom line down gently and line 1/3 of (stop right before the middle of your eye) and pull up the corner of your eye in order to join the top wing to the bottom line to give it the finshed look. Then take a eyeshadow with a more neutral tone such as gold or a light pink and apply it right above your eyeliner to brighten up your eyes to make sure it doesn’t look to weighed down. To highlight your eyes even more you can go on to add the same eyeshadow to the remaining part of your bottom line that doesn’t have eyeliner. To pull the look together add a stroke of mascara( brush the wand outwards so it flows with the wings).
BROWS: Your eyebrows need to start directly above the bridge of your nose and arch directly above your pupil. Thicker, fuller eyebrows make you look younger and can make or break your look. If you are going for a sharper look then you can use your fingers or an eyebrow brush to slightly pull your eyebrows up, still keeping it in an arch. If you’re going for a softer look than just make sure they appear neat yet full and strong.
LIPS:For an everyday look its best to dab a shade that is not too light yet not too dark. A color a like the one Kerry Washington is wearing is perfect for her bronzed look and pull her face together. A lighter lip goes great with darker eyes. To finish your lips take a napkin and hold it between your lips for a few seconds to give that perfect effortless look.
